Tardies and Early Dismissals

Tardiness

Students may arrive beginning at 7:30. The homeroom bell rings at 8:00, and students are tardy at 8:15. All students should arrive to school prior to the 8:15 bell.

Students who arrive after 8:15 are considered tardy and must check in through the front office to receive a tardy pass. If the tardiness is due to a medical appointment, he/she must present a note from the medical office indicating the reason for the tardy to be excused.

Early Dismissals

Students who leave school early can only be checked out by either the parent or guardian or the person indicated by the guardian on the emergency consent card. The person checking out the student must present proper identification and must come inside the building to sign out the student.

There are no early checkouts after 3:00 p.m. When students are dismissed early, they are missing instructional time. Upon returning to school, students must bring documentation signed by the parent/guardian, doctor, dentist, judge, etc. stating the date and reason for the absence.

Every Day Matters!

One of the most important things parents can do to help their child achieve academic success is to assure their child is in school every day. Research has shown that a child's attendance record may be one of the biggest factors influencing his or her success. By attending school regularly, your child is more likely to keep up with daily lessons and assignments and will take tests and quizzes on time.

Not only does regular attendance improve student achievement, it also establishes patterns of responsibility and commitment that will serve students throughout their lives, including college, technical or trade school, the military, and the workplace. By being present at school, your child is learning how to be a good citizen by participating in the school community, learning valuable social skills, and developing a broader world view. For older students attending school every day helps them build the academic foundation needed for the future and affords them the opportunity to learn more about career options and scholarships.

Please help your child take the responsibility of attending school seriously. Your commitment to school attendance sends the message to your child that education is a priority for your family and that going to school every day is a critical part of educational success.
